I want to tell you about the first time I experienced Stress Induced Management Anxiety. It is a fear that overwhelms you. Many of you have had it yourself you just may not want to admit it.
First, let me tell you what led up to this moment of horrifying clarity…..
My path was set and I was on my way to become a C.P.A. Life threw me a curve ball. I ended up with a Management Degree and purchased the karate school I taught at. Years later, I have a Management Degree from Georgia State University and own three karate schools with just under 1,000 students.
Things were really good. I had over 20 employees and the schools were grossing over $1,000,000 a year. Well, lets say things were good on the surface. Behind the scenes, I was working myself to death.
I couldn’t keep up any more. It was puzzling. How was it that I had all of these employees and I felt like I was doing everything myself?
This is the scary part…..
I realized that I had 1,000 students, 2,000 parents plus 20 employees and I did not know how to be a manager. I thought I knew how to manage people but the truth was that I didn’t. Yeah, I was the guy with a college degree in management and couldn’t manage my team.
I remember the feeling of fear! It was very scary knowing all of these people were depending on me but I didn’t know what to do. A quest for real word management practices commenced. Everything turned around and the team came together quickly. The best part was that my stress disappeared.
Ten years have been spent learning and perfecting the best management techniques on the planet. I’ve taken everything I learned and put them into an online course called Management Concepts.
