WISH LIST

Hand out a Wish List to every one of your students along with a Holiday Sale catalog from which supply company you order products from.  Students should fill in martial arts items they want for Christmas on the Wish List and turn the Wish List in at your martial arts school.

Make turning in the Wish List a magical experience.  Get a large box and wrap it with Christmas wrapping paper.  A refrigerator box will be perfect.  Students will think their Wish List is going straight to the north pole.

Give parents a percentage discount on all items they pre-order from the Wish List.  The cut-off date should be early enough so that you can have all of the pre-order items at the Holiday Sale.  Parents cannot pick the pre-order items up until the Holiday Sale.  This will help drive parents to the event.

HOLIDAY SALE

The Holiday Sale can be a one day or multi day event.  Most schools will host the event on a Saturday but weekdays work just as good.  These should be the best sale prices of the year.  Give discounts on single items, pair items together and even buy one get one free.

Be careful not to over order on inventory!

Think as if you are running a retail store in the mall.  Decorate, play Christmas music and post sale signs.  Your school should have a different look and feel when people arrive for the sale.  Create a shopping experience within you facility.

WISH LIST MARKETING

1. Blow up a Wish List to poster size and put it on your mirrors or in the front of your teaching area.  Take a crayon or marker and have an instructor write an item they want for Christmas on the Wish List during class.

2. Ask students to name martial arts items they want for Christmas during class.

3. Contact the parents of the students who have turned in a Wish List.  Talk to them when they come to class.  Give them the original or make them a copy of the Wish List.  Do not come across pushy as if you are just trying to get money out of them.  You are trying to give them gift ideas for their child, save them a trip to the mall and showing them how they can save money.

HOLIDAY SALE MARKETING

1. It is important that you successfully promote the Wish List in order to have a successful Holiday Sale.  The Wish List will generate extra interest in martial arts items as gift ideas for Christmas.

2. Market the Holiday Sale over the course of three to four weeks.  Think like a giant store at the mall who is promoting a holiday sale.

3. Hang Poster or Flyers for the Holiday Sale three weeks before the event.

4. Hand out Flyers or Postcards for the Holiday Sale two weeks before the event.

5. Send out emails or social media direct messages every week for three weeks prior to the event about the Holiday Sale.  These direct message should give the facts about the sale and gift ideas.  Change each one up.  They cannot be the same.

6. Mail a postcard the week before the event to all adult students and parents reminding them about the Holiday Sale.  Include some coupons on the postcard as an added bonus.
